I am contacting you to tell you that we have organised the next Portugal IE Alumni Club meeting for Thursday, 17 May 2007, at 19:30 p.m., at Zenit Lisboa Hotel (Avenida 5 d’Outubro, 11. Lisbon).

In this new event, Bryan Husted, Ph.D., Director of the IE Alumni Association Chair in Business Ethics, will be giving a lecture on the topic “What causes unethical (corporate) behavior?” The purpose of this session is to examine some of the causes of unethical behavior by corporations. In so doing, Professor Husted will consider the roles of both individual employees as well as groups within the firm. He will identify some of the key policies and practices that can enable your firm to behave in a consistently ethical way.

Session will be introduced by Inés Holtreman, IMBA 2001 by IE and President of the Lisbon IE Alumni Club. As always, it is our aim to maintain if not increase the network among all IE Alumni Club members. For this reason, we hope you will take advantage of these opportunities to know graduates from other IE years and programmes, professionals with a similar functional profile or from your sector, who might share interests and concerns, and, like you, live in Lisbon or nearby. A cocktail will be served after the lecture. And, don’t forget, you are welcome to bring guests.

Lisbon - The monthly dinner organized by the Alumni Club of Portugal occurs usually on Thursdays in Lisbon. Last September 29th, however, the dinner was set on Friday on purpose, to allow the alumni living outside of Lisbon to come and take the opportunity to spend the weekend in the city. III Festa Lusófona em Madrid

Pelo terceiro ano consecutivo o aumento de alunos brasileiros e portugueses no IE permitiu que organizássemos uma festinha lusófona em Madrid. Foi a terceira edição da festa, ocorrida no dia 7 de Outubro de 2006. Na foto acima vemos o pessoal que não pode ficar sem uma festinha bacana: Leonardo Camozzato, Ivan Guadalupe, Juliana Santin, Maria Figueiredo, Juliana Fraccaro, Rafael Roubach e Randall Saenz.

In this new event, Jose Esteves, Ph.D., Professor and Area Chair of Information Systems at IE Business School will be giving a lecture on the topic "Evaluating e-recruitment strategies: an information systems perspective". This seminar will analyze the use of IT in Human Resources, especially in recruitment with e-recruitment solutions. Besides explaining the reasons for the importance of e-recruitment, Professor Esteves will describe some best practices and how to evaluate e-recruitment in a company. What Fortune 100 companies are doing in this area will be examined.

This course is aimed at alumni who are interested in gaining an insight into the world's fastest growing economy and in learning more about trade relations. Sessions will be led by professors from Fudan University, IE, entrepreneurs and representatives of institutions in the field of commerce. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit companies based in Shanghai. Participants will also be invited to take part in a guided tour on Sunday, May 28.

Madri - Alunos portugueses do IE Instituto de Empresa de Madri ganham prémio por idéia inovadora. Segundo o Jornal:

Dois estudantes portugueses (Á  esq. na foto), alunos do International MBA da escola de negócios espanhola Instituto de Empresa, ganharam a competição da General Eletric "Imagination at Work", que premeia projectos inovadores no âmbito das áreas de negócios da multinacional. O prémio foi entregue pelo próprio presidente e CEO da General Eletric International, Ferdinando Becalli.
