I am contacting you to inform you that we have organised the next Lisbon IE Alumni Club meeting for Thursday, 2 November 2006, at 19:00 p.m., at AC Lisboa Hotel (Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, 16 - Palacio Sottomayor. Lisbon).

In this new event, Jose Esteves, Ph.D., Professor and Area Chair of Information Systems at IE Business School will be giving a lecture on the topic "Evaluating e-recruitment strategies: an information systems perspective". This seminar will analyze the use of IT in Human Resources, especially in recruitment with e-recruitment solutions. Besides explaining the reasons for the importance of e-recruitment, Professor Esteves will describe some best practices and how to evaluate e-recruitment in a company. What Fortune 100 companies are doing in this area will be examined.

Session will be introduced by Ines Blasques Holtreman, MIDE 2001 by IE and President of the Lisbon IE Alumni Club.

As always, it is our aim to maintain if not increase the network among all IE Alumni Club members. For this reason, we hope you will take advantage of these opportunities to know graduates from other IE years and programmes, professionals with a similar functional profile or from your sector, who might share interests and concerns, and, like you, live in Lisbon or nearby. And, don´t forget, you are welcome to bring guests.

I would also like to remind you that our most important activity will be on Friday, 24 November, we will be holding the Annual Alumni Conference 2006 "MANAGING THE TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE". For us this event has special significance, reflecting the driving spirit of our Association: to develop a network of alumni and to facilitate your continuous training. Last year´s conference brought together more than 1000 alumni from around the world. This year our speakers wiil be, Mr. Emilio Mendez Perez, 1998 Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research for the experimental discovery of the Stark effect and the first studies of resonant tunnelling. Dr. David Konzevik, Strategy consultant for leading firms around the World. His deep knowledge of realities enables him to enrich his presentations with descriptions of what is happening in places where the future is being built. Mr. Eduardo Montes, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG as Senior Vice President, and CEO of Siemens Communications President of Board of Directors of Siemens S.A. Mrs. Rosa Garci­a, CEO, Microsoft Iberica; Mrs. Amparo Moraleda, President, IBM Spain, Portugal, Greece, Israel and Turke; Mrs. Isabel Aguilera, Director General, Google Spain and Portugal; Mr. Eugenio Galdon, President, ONO, Mr. Belarmino Garci­a, CEO, France Telecom Spain, Mr. Fernando Alfaro, Director General of Innovation, Bankinter, Mr. Martin Varsavsky, Founder, FON.
